To celebrate World Book Day, we will be taking part in a special day of reading and book related activities on Thursday 5th March.
Children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character if they would like to take part. Costumes do not need to be expensive or bought from a shop – simple homemade ideas are absolutely welcome. The focus of the day is to celebrate a love of reading and sharing stories together.
Throughout the day, the children will take part in activities, including creating our very own St Joseph’s book – details of which will be revealed on the day. If your child would prefer not to dress up, they are very welcome to come in their normal school uniform and bring along their favourite book to share with the class.
Some simple costume ideas include:
- Where’s Wally – Red and white striped top, jeans, glasses.
- Harry Potter – School uniform, round glasses, lightning scar, a stick as a wand.
- Matilda – Blue dress, cardigan, and a stack of books.
- Charlie Bucket – Normal clothes with a homemade golden ticket.
- Gangsta Granny – Floral clothes, glasses, and a hat or grey hair.
- The Gruffalo – Brown clothes with paper ears or horns.
- Winnie the Pooh – Yellow top with a red T-shirt.
- Alice in Wonderland – Blue dress with a white apron.
- Mr Bump – Blue clothes with bandages.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a fantastic day celebrating books!
