Take the Early Years Tour!

St Joseph’s Primary School has recently created a brand new tour video, which includes some spectacular drone footage showcasing our expansive learning environment.

Starting Reception in 2027?

If your child was born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 they will start reception in September in 2027. To help you make your choice for your child’s first steps into their learning journey, we have created a video of our learning environment for you.

Children in Reception and KS1 have a daily phonics lesson. They also participate in a guided reading session three times a week, in which they are explicitly taught the skills to read and have an opportunity to practice these skills. Children in Nursery focus on developing speaking and listening skills, laying the foundations for learning phonemes in Reception.

Children are also given the opportunity to develop a love of reading by reading or listening to fiction and non-fiction books in the classroom and the school library.
